A day in Penang…..

I was away in Penang with my mates over the weekend….For this entry, all the shots are taken using my old Nikkor one touch 80-200mm f2.8 lens. I love this lens as it produces nice contrast and colour. I decided to attach and carry only one lens for our walk in the Penang city that day. Well…long lens good for paparazzi’ ing… :)

Suraya & Shah wedding day portraiture session…

November 2, 2008 | Filed Under Photography, Potraiture, Weddings | 2 Comments

I was commisioned by Puan Suraya to photoshoot a portraiture session on her wedding day. She wanted the strobist style (off camera flash) portraiture which is my favourite. The session was held indoor & outdoor which is on the “Pelamin” & on a playground near the house.

We started to shoot around 4pm and it was cloudy. Therefore it was easy to balance the ambience and the strobes while shooting outdoor.

Below are some of the pictures of the session and some behind the scene pictures.

Open House Che Peah….

October 26, 2008 | Filed Under Daily Life, Photography, Potraiture | 4 Comments

Che Peah held an Deeparaya Open House for TFC (Total Football Club) members…TFC was established since 1998…

Che Peah appointed me as AJK Payung (strobist) for his open house. Therefore, I brought my light stands and my 3 Nikon SBs. I used the Panasonic Lumix LX3 which is a compact digital camera to shoot the portraits. I also got my cheapo wireless radio trigger with me.

The setting was: 1 x SB800 shoot thru white brolly on top of camera

1 x SB26 and SB28 bare as key lights.

Towards the end of the session, the wireless trigger transmitter was running on low battery…therefore it did not trigger my SB28 properly. So I had to settle with just two strobes.

Question of the day….

October 23, 2008 | Filed Under Photography, Q & A | 2 Comments

I’ve got someone asking me about Nikon D40x CLS(creative ligthing system) or off camera flash capability…So,I decided to post it here so that maybe anyone else can read it too….Below is the question in Malaysian Language…therefore my answer will be in Malaysia language as well…Anyway, I’ve got the answer within two minutes on the internet….so I guess maybe you can find the answer too :P

Question:

“em nikon d40x boleh guna wireless tak?
nak try blajar strobe hehe”

Answer:

D40x punya build in flash tak dpt trigger ur SB600. Unless ko ade SB800, ko boleh set SB800 tu on SU-4 mode..tu kira “slave” mode..then guna build in flash on “manual” mode utk trigger SB800 itu.SB800 tu kira ade optical sensor..so bila dia detect flash..dia pon trigger sekali…

So yg transmitter ni ko letak kat atas hot shoe camera ko then the receiver letak kat SB600 ko…then bila ko press shutter…ia akan trigger flash ko juga…

So, aku rasa…the cheapest option..ko beli la wireless trigger murahan tu…dlm RM100+ kot..

Sekian.
